Job Description

Trek APAC is a dynamic and quickly growing part of Trek – a global bicycle and cycling product manufacturer and distributor. With this growth comes the critical importance of the APAC HR Director position to lead the people agenda in supporting that growth. Trek APAC currently has offices and teams of talented HR professionals in Japan, Korea and Australia (representing both Australia and New Zealand). APAC Regional HQ is located in Canberra, Australia.

This role provides guidance, mentoring and support across the APAC Region in the achievement of positive people, culture and performance outcomes. As a strategic partner to the APAC Managing Director, the APAC HR Director is a critical role that supports delivery of Trek’s strategy through aligned people strategy.

The incumbent will be successful when combining relationships built on trust and influence with their contemporary HR knowledge, to design and implement HR strategies appropriate for each market that are also consistent with Trek’s global approach. In achieving this, the HR Director will work and collaborate closely with other APAC Peers including Finance, Marketing, Forecasting, Customer Care and Retail Directors, as well as Country Managers and leadership teams within each market.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership, guidance and support to HR teams in local markets within the APAC region

  • Represent regional requirements, cultural nuances, business challenges, strategy, vision and changes internationally and locally, including being a conduit between the region and Trek globally

  • Understand the short and long term goals and direction of the organization, and provide a HR vision to support the achievement of these goals

  • Champion Trek’s leadership development strategy and goals, including the development of tools and resources to enable continuous focus and improvement in APAC

  • Oversee and advise on talent attraction and acquisition, talent management and succession planning for both wholesale and retail businesses

  • Develop, maintain and communicate a total rewards framework

  • Manage complex or high level performance or case management across region

  • Regional custodian of the Great Place to Work engagement survey and audit outcomes, including working closely with leaders in spirit of continuous improvement

  • Achieve consistency within policies, processes, HR strategy, remuneration frameworks whilst also adapting to local cultural and compliance requirements

  • Maintain a long-term strategic mindset and vision for the region, whilst at the same time being willing to be involved in day to day transactional or operational business requirements as needed by country HR teams

  • Leadership coaching and development of APAC leadership team members, including Country Managers

  • Involvement in and contribution to senior level talent attraction and acquisition

  • Operational HR support to APAC employees who don’t fall within direct scope of responsibility of country HR Managers

  • Oversee and have input to lead regional and HR global projects

Requirements

  • Experience working in or across Asia Pacific would be highly desirable

  • Experience as a HR Director or HR Manager in a large / complex multinational organization

  • Minimum 10 years HR generalist experience

  • Tertiary qualifications in HR, Psychology, Business or Law

  • Knowledge and experience of HR / employment related legislation

  • Willingness to ride bikes and have fun!
