Apparel design assistant - Melbourne
MAAP is expanding its product design and development team, and we’re looking for Design Assistant with a genuine passion for technical performance apparel. As a key part of our creative team, you will take ownership and be proactive in the sourcing, development, and sampling process of premium cycling product categories. You will communicate clearly and precisely with suppliers about design concepts and find solutions to problems that may arise. You think creatively and will contribute and articulate design ideas, always maintaining the highest attention to detail. You pride yourself on flexibility, while easily meeting critical timelines in the development process.
Though every day is different, your role will look like a mixture of the below:
Collaborate with the Design Manager on fabric and component sourcing requirements.
Maintain the accuracy of internal visual range plans and style creation assets.
Handle research tasks and create product-specific design briefs.
Clearly interpret and communicate style specifics through Adobe Creative Suite.
Coordinate the development & sampling process from concept to final sample.
Participate in garment fittings and maintain internal tech packs and critical style information.
Liaise with suppliers maintaining clear communication through all stages of product development.
A few things that you’ve likely done in previous and current roles:
Proven a sound understanding of garment construction, fitting and grading with knit and woven fabrics for leading cycling or activewear brands.
Created functional and enduring relationships with premium international garment suppliers.
Demonstrated borderline obsessive attention to detail during the product development process.
Achieved solid literacy with Adobe Suite and Office Suite.
If you have had at least 3 years of experience in a technical design role and are energised by a fast-paced and dynamic work environment, we’d like to hear from you.
