Melbourne Powered specialises in e-Bikes and operates a growing bicycle service and repair Workshop out of our store front in Ascot Vale (Inner Melbourne). We also service and repair standard bikes and we work on a diverse range of Bikes from; e-MTB, Road Bikes, MTB, Commuter Bikes, Cruiser Bikes, Cargo Bikes. We work on almost anything! It is our Can-do attitude which we expect from all our staff.

As our workshop continues to grow, we are looking for an enthusiastic, pro-active bicycle mechanic with at least 1 to 3 years of experience working on Bikes and or e-Bikes to join our team! Experience in servicing e-Bikes or carrying out e-Bike Conversions would be highly desirable but NOT essential. Candidates with only standard bike experience must demonstrate a strong willingness to learn and grow their knowledge about e-Bikes. (It's the future of transportation!)

Hourly rate will be determined based on experience. This is a casual role with full time opportunity for the right person!

Position: Bicycle Mechanic (Vehicle industry RS&R level 3 under the Vehicle Repair, Services and Retail Award 2020) at 132 Union Road, Ascot Vale VIC 3032

The duties of this role include:

Level 3 duties:

  • works under direct supervision either individually or in a team environment;

  • has some oral and written communication skills;

  • can distinguish where a minor fault/error is made and undertake basic quality control of own work;

  • is responsible for the quality of own work subject to routine supervision;

  • has some input to job planning;

  • can work from simple instructions;

  • has some basic customer service skills;

  • performs basic maintenance tasks;

  • has basic knowledge of the range of services offered by the business;

  • has simple numerical equipment skills; and

  • may use selected hand tools.

Other store duties:

  • Carry out servicing and repairs on bicycles and e-Bikes with supervision and guidance from Workshop Manager;

  • Carry out custom e-Bike conversions with supervision and guidance from Workshop Manager;

  • Assist in the day to day operations of the shop including: creating customer service/repair bookings, and liaising with customers;

  • Assist customers with sales inquiries in-store and over the phone;

  • Communicate and work effectively with customers, Manager, mechanics and administrative staff;

  • Accept and sign for stock deliveries and inform your Workshop and Store Manager;

  • Deliver bicycles to customers’ residential addresses when required;

  • Enter roster availability within specified timeframes; and

  • Provide sufficient notice when the employee is unable to attend a rostered day of work in compliance with our leave policies.

Melbourne Powered adapts its services depending on customer demand and need, and so these duties may vary or increase as our business grows. Employees will be required to work during business trading hours.
