Bike mechanic - Albany
We are seeking an enthusiastic person for a full-time role as a bicycle mechanic and shop assistant.
Bob’s Bikes is located in the beautiful coastal city of Albany, WA. We have a flourishing bike riding scene with mountain bike trails, skateparks and WA’s largest pumptrack and dirt jump park currently under construction. We are also the start/finish point for the famous Munda Biddi trail that takes off-road touring from Albany to Perth over a 1000km journey. Albany is host to many bike events including the Southern Peaks Urban Downhill as well as state and local downhill rounds. There are major mountain bike networks within a few hours drive and many more awaiting completion. Albany also offers great opportunities for surfing, camping, fishing and many other outdoor activities.
We are a young family run business, built on the passion for BMX and Mountain Biking. Bob started the business 8 years ago after 15 years of industry experience and 30+ years of riding bikes. We are predominantly a Mountain Bike, BMX and E-Bike store but offer our services to all types of bicycle enthusiasts. In this role you will be supported by a committed, fun loving team to further your skills and development in the bicycle industry.
A probation period of three months will apply to the successful candidate.
What are we looking for?
The successful candidate will have experience in the repair, service, and assembly of a wide range of bicycle types including high end mountain bikes and E Bikes. You will be able to demonstrate a high quality of workmanship, good organisational and communication skills, and the ability to confidently recommend products and equipment to customers. A genuine passion for cycling and being an active rider will be highly desirable.
About the role
The position is a full-time bike mechanic/customer service assistant.
In the role you will be responsible for:
Efficiently diagnosing, repairing, and servicing a wide range of bicycles and E-Bikes.
Maintaining customer records for all repair and service work.
Booking jobs and communicating works with customers.
Assembly of new bikes
Communicating with the workshop manager to meet customer satisfaction and deadlines.
Communicating with workshop manager to meet stock/part requirements.
Providing effective and efficient customer service.
Maintaining and expanding product knowledge.
Maintaining a safe and tidy workplace.
Maintaining knowledge of workplace processes and procedures.
Abiding by workplace health and safety procedures.
Effectively servicing and maintaining suspension systems
Effectively maintaining and servicing hydraulic brake systems
Communicating with customers to inform them of servicing schedules.
Assisting with the management of junior staff members
Maintaining security, preventing loss and damage of goods and property.
Operating Point Of Sale systems.
Other tasks as required.

Intermediate computer skills with knowledge of POS systems
1+ years of experience in bicycle servicing and repairs.
