Bikeshop office manager - Newcastle
Background
Metro Cycles is an independent bike shop with a focus on transport cycling. We offer service, sales and hire of a unique range of quality commuter, utility and trekking bikes.
Our customer base is predominantly local and loyal, and includes commuters, women, families, older and inexperienced riders, as well as people with disabilities.
We require a friendly, reliable, trustworthy, organised and flexible all-rounder to help manage our stock (including ordering, receiving and inventory control), accounts payable and payroll, in-store and webshop sales, customer email and phone communications.
Selection Criteria
Good basic computer skills (eg. excel, web, email, word) and touch typing essential.
P.O.S. experience desirable but training available (Lightspeed)
Accounts payable and payroll experience highly desirable (Xero).
Organised and tidy working methods, attention to detail and accurate data entry is essential for this role.
Ability to think independently and pro-actively problem-solve with the resources available.
Good written and spoken communication skills and an ability to deal with a broad range of customers warmly, politely and effectively.
Contribute to a positive, cooperative team atmosphere (mature, motivated, reliable and considerate to colleagues).
Ability to ride a bike competently and a genuine interest in cycling for transport and/or bicycle trekking is essential.
Familiarity with bicycle parts and/or the bicycle industry desirable.
Ability to perform light physical duties include moving and storing stock, assisting with test rides and occasional simple mechanical tasks.
Conditions of Employment
Full time, permanent, salaried position (37.6 hrs/wk)
Ability to work a rotating Saturday roster (8:45-2:45pm)
