Chief Financial Officer - Brisbane

Lead the Finance function globally


This is a senior role across the Pedal Group that will help shape our future, working towards an IPO over the next few years. Our Finance function, with growth & geographic expansion, now requires improvement in processes, systems, efficiencies, creating greater alignment across the group.

This is newly created role, with core functions split into three areas:

  1. Leadership

  • Finance discipline leadership across the Group, creating greater alignment across the teams

  • Lead contact for key external relationships including Banking, Tax & Audit

  • Finance function transformation setting up scalable processes, systems and efficiencies

  • Providing strategic recommendations to the Board, CEO & Operational leaders (with the ability to own projects & execute on plans)

2. Financial Control

  • Basics in place including Accounting accuracy in line with standards & reconciliation processes

  • Cash flow management, including managing liquidity levels & Treasury functions

  • Compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements

  • Leading the Budgeting & reporting processes

  • Risk management, including the implementation of internal controls

3. Commercial

  • Analytical skills to help make better business decisions, improving return on investment

  • Cash flow management, including leading the capital allocation process

  • Forecasting focus enhancing systems & processes

  • Reducing costs through expense management & development of a procurement process

  • Lead Merger & Acquisition projects, including financial modelling


  • Working capital measures

  • Profitability

  • Forecasting

  • Leadership development

  • Compliance


Formal Qualifications

  • Degree qualified

  • CA / CPA

  • ASX listed experience (strongly preferred)

It is essential to demonstrate experience and/or knowledge in the following areas:

  • A proven track record of proven achievement

  • Experience in leading finance teams

  • Strong commercial acumen & analytical skills

  • Technical competence in financial control, treasury and statutory obligations

Pedal Group is a privately owned global bicycle company that is vertically integrated, with retail, wholesale & property businesses.

The main operational businesses are:

  • Retail (Retail - Bicycles, Parts & Accessories & Workshops)

    • 99 Bikes Australia - 64 stores and the largest speciality bicycle retailer in Australia

    • 99 Bikes New Zealand - 10 stores, with coverage across the North & South Island

    • Hargroves Cycles United Kingdom - 4 stores in the South West of England

  • Advance Traders (Wholesale - Bicycles, Parts & Accessories)

    • Australia / Zealand - Largest multi-brand wholesaler

  • Pedal Group Property (Property - Stores & Warehousing)

    • Arm that owns retail stores leased by 99 Bikes in Australia and New Zealand

    • Melbourne based Distribution Centre / Warehouse (from April 2023)

Our company was founded in 2008, as a joint venture with Flight Center Travel Group Limited, and the Turner Family. We have adopted some of the Flight Centre philosophies as “core values”, also creating our own culture. Our major shareholders are Flight Centre Travel Group, Gainsdale Pty Limited (Turner family company), Matt Turner, as well as being 16% owned by employees.
