Communications coordinator - Sydney


Bicycle NSW promotes, advocates, and supports cycling in all its forms as an environmentally sustainable and healthy form of transport, recreation and tourism through the engagement of government, industry and the community at all levels. Bicycle NSW is a member based association established as a not for profit community organisation in 1976.

The Communications Coordinator will be responsible for how Bicycle NSW goes to market in all communications channels.


Working with all BNSW staff and use communication strategies to help drive;

  • Traffic to and engagement with our website

  • Engagement with our social media channels

  • External advocacy issues and campaigns

  • Membership retention and growth

  • Issues management related to communications

  • Brand recognition and reputation


  • the Bicycle NSW websites

  • Social Media including: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Strava, LinkedIn, YouTube

  • Electronic Direct Messages (EDMs)

  • Marketing campaigns


Work with the CEO and the Graphic Designer to manage web content, to schedule and share social media posts, EDM’s and campaigns on advocacy issues and membership.

Maintenance activities to ensure the smooth operation of the Bicycle NSW website and social media platforms. Be able to produce reports on the engagement and overall outcome of campaigns, website and social media.


Working with the Membership Sales Specialist, CEO and the Graphic Designer to develop and deliver the necessary communications and campaigns to retain existing members and attract new members.


In consultation with the team, work to create engaging, informative and interesting digital content for a range of audiences across all platforms. This content could range from human interest articles to scientific road engineering pieces, partner profiles and government announcements.


Assist with moderating social media channels under the guidance of the CEO.

Experience and Skills

  • Demonstrated high level written and verbal communication skills.

  • Proven experience managing websites and scheduling digital content using WordPress and Mailchimp.

  • Experience managing social media channels - Facebook, Instagram, Twitter through Creator Suite.

  • Ability to use Google Analytics for website and social analytics.

  • Ability to assist and support marketing or promotions activities.

  • Proficient IT skills and experience. Specific experience using Google Suite and ASI iMIS Engagement Management System would be highly regarded, however experience with MS Office and other databases/CRM’s is sufficient.

  • Able to plan, manage and complete multiple tasks in a fast moving environment, while

maintaining perspective on longer term objectives.

  • Uses well developed organisational and time management skills to meet deadlines.

  • Initiative and problem solving abilities, a “can do” attitude

  • Excellent attention to detail and quality as well as the ability to follow procedures.

  • Flexibility and willingness to take on a range of tasks in a cooperative and efficient manner with a strong team focus.

  • Photography skills and experience with Google Ads a bonus.

  • An interest and passion for bicycle riding of any nature.
