Event delivery lead - Sydney

Formed in 2020, AusCycling is Australia’s peak body representing all disciplines of cycling. Team Purpose

AusCycling’s Sport Pillar oversees events and racing; workforce education and accreditation programs; competition rules and the State / Territory delivery network.

Position Purpose

As a member of the AusCycling Events delivery team, the Events Delivery Lead - NSW is responsible for the administration requirements to plan and deliver AusCycling events, in partnership with key stakeholders/clubs and event organisers.


The following responsibilities are indicative requirements of the role and are not intended to represent an exhaustive list of all requirements.

Working under general supervision:

  1. Lead or support the delivery of assigned state level events.

  2. Manage event sanctioning, including coordination of the state / territory race calendar.

  3. Attend national events as required and play a role in the event management team.

  4. Provide and oversee day-to day support for event delivery partners including clubs, private organisers, suppliers and race directors to ensure events are delivered to the highest possible standard.

  5. Oversee the development and administration of state series and state level events.

  6. Support the team of event delivery staff.

  7. Ensure standard operating procedures and policies for events are implemented.

  8. Supervise event volunteers as required.

  9. Support the delivery of timing and results services to selected events.

  10. Contribute to the development of the annual events operations plan and budget.

  11. Role model AusCycling organisational values, demonstrating a high standard of behaviour, including respect for, and collaboration with others at all times.

  12. Adhere to, uphold and promote the principles of AusCycling policies and operating procedures.

  13. Other duties as directed to support the overall success of AusCycling, in support of event planning and management as directed from time to time.

  5. Ensure all safety requirements relating to participants, volunteers, spectators, and others in attendance at events are met.


Relevant tertiary qualifications highly desirable (Event Management or related field), or a commensurate level of event management experience.

Skills, Knowledge and Experience

  1. Ability to communicate effectively (verbally and in writing) with a wide range of stakeholders, both internally and externally, in a professional and ethical manner.

  2. Experience/knowledge in cycling specific event delivery/coordination is desirable.

  3. Past proven experience working with stakeholders, event workforce, contractors and suppliers in event environments.

  4. Excellent time management, organisation and project management skills, with an ability to manage complex tasks, challenging projects and competing deadlines concurrently.

  5. Proven ability to lead and work as part of a team.

  6. Excellent computer literacy and administrative skills.

  7. Excellent record keeping, documentation, and report writing skills.

  8. Sound understanding and experience implementing work health and safety, and risk management practices.

  9. Knowledge of the sport of cycling, and an understanding of contemporary issues and opportunities for the Australian sports sector.

This role requires the incumbent to hold and maintain a Working with Children Clearance, along with a drivers licence. Due to the timing of AusCycling events, this role also requires flexibility in work hours including being available to work weekends, public holidays and out of hours’ work as necessary (to support events).
