Tourism North East (TNE) is the Regional Tourism Board for Victoria’s High Country, which encompasses the Shires of Alpine, Murrindindi, Benalla, Indigo, Mansfield, Towong and Wangaratta, and the three major alpine resorts of Falls Creek, Mt Buller and Mt Hotham.

Tourism North East is an independent, not-for-profit organisation that represents a partnership between Local Government, the Victorian Alpine Resorts, Visit Victoria and industry. It is considered the lead regional tourism board in the State and is a respected and strategic voice on all matters relating to the regional tourism agenda.

Tourism North East is charged with developing the strategic tourism direction for the High Country, uniting its diverse stakeholder base in a common development path to optimise visitor economy outcomes.

This work includes delivering a broad range of strategic supply and demand tourism initiatives including regional marketing, product development, strategic planning, industry development, investment prioritisation, research and advocacy. These efforts are focused on the High Country’s five recognised product strengths; cycle, snow, nature-based tourism, food/drinks and arts/cultural heritage.

The Role

The Gravel Cycling Program Manager is responsible for the management and delivery of a newly funded gravel cycling activation project.

The gravel cycling activation project is aimed at building the High Country’s gravel cycling credentials through the development of new gravel cycling loops, implementation of a comprehensive signage network to support the new cycling trail network and delivery of a category positioning event in 2022 and 2023.

These efforts drive visitation, yield and dispersal throughout the region, and support the long-term strategic vision of establishing the High Country as the leading regional tourism destination in Victoria.

Collaboration with local government stakeholders and industry partners is key to success in this position.

Key Selection Criteria

The key selection criteria for this role is focussed on product knowledge and marketing experience, business and management skills, judgement and decision making, interpersonal skills and cultural fit. The full set of key selection criteria is included in the Position Description.

Position Term

This position is a fixed-term contract until February 2024.

Location

The TNE HQ is located in the beautiful historic town of Beechworth, however we are committed to finding the right person for this role. This position can be located in Bright, Beechworth or Mansfield.
