Trek Australia is seeking an Inventory and Logistics Manager/Director for Australia and New Zealand. The role will be based in Canberra ACT. Trek will support relocation and temporary accommodation costs, if required. About the role
Reporting to the Country Manager and leading a team of staff, the premise of this role is to guide the strategy, cost efficiency and development of the logistics function within a quickly growing company. The role oversees third party contracts with warehouse and freight providers and is the key business unit in providing internal and external customers with inbound inventory information.
This role will be responsible for the overall performance of all Logistics activities, once the product has been manufactured, and will involve warehousing, distribution, and inventory control. The role has oversight of warehousing in Perth, Sydney, and Auckland. With likely growth of additional warehousing hubs in the future.
The role will work closely with other business units, in particular finance and I.T. Therefore, a strong financial or systems background is desirable. The role oversees both Australia and New Zealand business units. Thus, experience across Oceania is also desirable.
Lead and develop a high performing logistics team of five people in executing the strategic objectives of the inventory and logistics function
Maintain Key Performance Indicators and Service Level Agreement metrics
Manage internal and external relationships
Manage and ensure efficiency of inventory movements
Lead the logistics cost budget development and continue monitoring budget versus actual costs of all logistics related costs[JDR1]
Review and optimise performance of the third-party contracts to ensure inventory accuracy, delivery efficiency and budgetary alignment.
Analysis and projection of transportation, warehousing, and distribution costs
Process development and improvement of the logistics function
Oversight of the customs clearances and permits
Business partnering with the customer service team, sales team, distribution and purchasing team to manage stock to meet short lead times, backorders and last minute/urgent customer requirements
Lead and optimize freight solutions for all modes of Transportation (Air, Ocean, Road, and Parcel) and Logistics/Warehousing (DC’s, Cross Docks, and Project/Specialty Warehouses).
Act as a champion on sustainability, identifying ways for us to optimise how we operate and support the achievement of our sustainability goals.
8 + Years' experience leading a logistics function [JDR2]
Strong understanding of systems and finance
Experience in a high-volume warehouse and extensive knowledge of all warehouse functions
Evidence identifying and developing successful continuous improvement strategies
Highly developed interpersonal skills including the ability to coach and develop people
Analysing data and completing reports
