We create the world’s most advanced light-weight high-performance carbon fibre bike wheels for our growing global customer base. Our manufacturing facility is based in the ManuFutures hub on the Deakin University campus, Waurn Ponds.
The first bike wheel was launched in 2019 and achieved design awards for its innovation and is fast becoming a market leader. Building on this success, we are scaling manufacturing operations rapidly with an extended product development road map. The position works closely with the CEO and CTO and the leadership team to ensure timely and accurate information for decision making. It therefore requires a diverse range of skills and a flexible and adaptable approach with a desire to work in a dynamic and challenging environment as part of a highly motivated team.
The Manufacturing Manager will oversee the production of the Partington.CC wheels, manufacturing equipment and process and improvements. The Manufacturing Manager is also responsible for developing, maintaining, and monitoring production schedules to meet customer delivery targets.
Other key duties are to ensure the production methods employed are cost effective and products are produced to the agreed quality level. The position requires someone who thrives on being part of a dynamic business culture and at the cutting edge of innovation. Attention to detail, commitment to accurate and timely information and to continuous improvement in developing processes and procedures to support the company growth will all be critical skill capabilities. THE ROLE
As the Manufacturing Manager you will lead a culture of continuous improvement whilst maintaining safety, quality, efficiency, and cost control.
The key duties and responsibilities of this role are:
Lead the manufacturing group and develop and foster a culture of safety-first, and ensuring that all Company policies, procedures, and processes are adhered to, understood, and practiced
Develop Lean manufacturing practises for the company to meet production schedules
Setting the overall strategy to minimise production downtime and production output
Manage daily and weekly production schedule for achieving optimum production efficiencies to deliver on time
Work closely with our supply chain partners and Engineering to optimise production performance and improve manufacturing processes
Provide leadership, coaching, support, and performance management
Lead factory expansion planning and implementation.
Key reporting and management responsibilities will include;
Leading and direct line management of the manufacturing team
Reporting to senior management on key production and manufacturing metrics
Managing budgets and OPEX.
Daily working relationships will be an essential part of “doing the job” including;
Managing the production team and senior management
Working with suppliers.

Knowledge & Skills
Interpersonal skills are a must as you will be liaising with the CEO, CTO and external and internal stakeholders
Strong & effective communication skills to lead and inspire the operations team
Excellent organisational and time management skills
Ability to work to tight deadlines
Visible belief and demonstrated leadership in driving a Zero Harm culture
Formal training in Lean manufacturing techniques
Working background in manufacturing environment, which embraces operational excellence
Strong problem solving and analytical skills
Proven background in continuous Improvement and change management experience
Proficient across a range of MS suite platforms and other reporting systems.
Qualifications & Experience
Relevant engineering degree with at least 7 years plus experience.

Preferably with a background in materials-based manufacturing.
