We are seeking an experienced practitioner to join us in the newly defined role of People & Culture Coordinator/Manager. While we anticipate this full time role will be based in our Margaret River office, for the right person we will consider both a flexible remote based role and a part time role with flexible work hours within standard business hours.


Our team is seeking an experienced and successful People & Culture Coordinator/Manager that loves trails, riding bikes, and the outdoors! Common Ground Trails is reshaping the world utilising trails to create outdoor enthusiasts and the next generation of environmental stewards. We work across planning, design and construction of trails and bike facilities in both urban and natural spaces. Our work is currently primarily focused on hiking and mountain bike trails and pump track design and construction, but we work across all trail and outdoor disciplines. Currently sitting at approximately 45 employees, we are going through continuous growth.

Based in our Margaret River office, we require an awesome People & Culture team member to help meet existing and growing demand for our services, and to help us deliver on our mission to a broader client base. The role includes;

  • Working closely with the Management and Accounts teams to support day-to-day HR administration and employee lifecycle including recruitment;

  • Implementing and supporting an inclusive organisational culture and associated communications;

  • Planning and reviewing HR administration processes and policies and actively seeking improvements;

  • Providing general first-level advice to staff regarding policies, updates, programs and best practices;

  • Contributing to the rollout of current and future projects including new software systems;

  • Managing organisational changes and employee data;

  • Assist with coordinating external employee training, company events and general office management;

  • Performing general HR administration duties including, preparation of employment contracts, maintaining accurate records of personnel-related data


We are looking for an experienced People & Culture Coordinator or Manager, who is excited about continuous learning and open to feedback and challenging ways of thinking. As we are on a growth journey, you will need to be flexible and adaptable, going on the journey with us and setting the business up for success. The suitable candidate will demonstrate:

  • Great written and verbal communication

  • Ability to work collaboratively with a team but also autonomously

  • High level of computer literacy and high skill level in Office 365 and CRM’s

  • Flexibility with changing priorities and deadlines

  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines

  • The ability to think outside the square when faced with a challenge and show initiative when problem solving

  • A tertiary qualification in Human Resources or a related discipline is highly desirable

  • An understanding and/or passion for trails, mountain biking or cycling, and associated infrastructure, construction and industry practices is highly desirable

Who we are:

Common Ground is a trail and bike facility consultancy specialising in all facets of developing and establishing facilities that connect people with trails, outdoor spaces, landscapes and most importantly each other. We work on mountain bike and walking trails, pump & jump tracks, BMX tracks, learn to ride tracks and play spaces.

Our team is a mix of landscape architects, urban designers, architects, trail builders, project managers and professionals, who collaborate as a team to deliver outstanding outcomes. We are also experienced and passionate mountain bikers, trail users and BMXers and we aim to infuse this enthusiasm into every project we undertake, from small scale volunteer projects, through to major destination development.

Above all, our work is fulfilling, it's exciting, it’s challenging, it’s fun and it’s fast-paced. We get to stand back at the end of a project and see what we’ve built for the community. People get outdoors, get active and connect to nature when they ride or walk our tracks and trails. This helps to create future stewards for our environment, some of the most unique and ancient landscapes in the world, and we feel really good about that.

Common Ground’s head office is in Margaret River WA but have staff working remotely across Australia and Canada.

Ideally, this is a full time role based in our Margaret River office working closely with key team members. However, for the right person we will consider remote work and part time, flexible remote working and flexible work hours.
