Production engineer - Melbourne


Originally established in 1998, GripSport began life as a boutique specialist engineering company working exclusively in the bicycle industry. Today, the company is Australasia’s leading innovator, designer and manufacturer of bicycle carrier systems for cars, 4WDs, caravans and RVs. We’re growing fast, expanding our range of Certified Australian-Made products and looking for a suitably qualified Engineer to join our close-knit and collaborative team as we expand further into the outdoor, adventure and leisure markets.

About the role - Overall:

Located in Campbellfield Victoria, this is a support role reporting to the Production Manager. You will primarily be involved in all aspects of GripSport’s manufacturing (both in-house and supply-chain). You will also assist the Design Manager in the production of drawings using Solidworks.

About the role – More specifically:

You will be;

  • a key member of the Production Team and contributing to the achievement of GripSport’s Strategic Business Plan, market initiatives, competitive advantage, and profitable growth strategy.

  • assisting in the design, development, implementation and execution of manufacturing plans and scheduling to meet and where possible exceed, both existing and forecast demand for our products.

  • liaising with suppliers and supply-chain contractors to ensure that all raw materials, supplies, services and items are of the required quality and delivered on time.

  • creating, maintaining and updating SOPs and BOMs for both existing and new products.

  • using Solidworks to create, maintain and update drawings.

  • involved with all aspects of product testing – FEA, test-bed, strain-gauge and real-world.

About you – Essential & Specific:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, manufacturing or relevant discipline along with a minimum of 1 years experience in a relevant manufacturing or fabrication or engineering facility.

  • comfortable being hands-on in a fabrication/engineering environment

  • Proficient in the use of MRP, Solidworks and Microsoft 365 software

  • Understanding of welding, metal forming, robotics and automation.

  • Understanding and ideally working knowledge of engineering systems.

  • High level verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a member of a team

  • authorization to work full-time in Australia – citizenship or Permanent Residency required

  • valid Australian driver’s license and a clean driving record

About you – Beneficial:

  • Knowledge of, or experience in, any or all of the following industries; cycling, caravan & RV, automotive, adventure, off-road, outdoor products and equipment.
