We have an opening for a Retail Buyer to join our team in Melbourne. In this role you will support owned retail stores by developing merchandising strategies to maximise sales, margin, inventory turnover, presentation and rider satisfaction. You will work closely with the sales and operations team to define the strategy for planning and buying, analysing and forecasting the needs for our retail stores.
ESSENTIAL ROLE FUNCTIONS:
Work closely with our Retail Operations team and Store Managers to understand store needs and market trends
Responsible for the regular aggregation of Third Party vendor purchase orders for Specialized owned stores on a defined order cadence per vendor
Foster relationships with Third party vendors, becoming our internal product knowledge hub for these vendors and their new product introductions, distributing this information with our owned retail network as required
Manage the inventory workflows and order entry from the retail Point of Sale system through to our internal operating system, whilst ensuring communication to key internal stakeholders
Assist team with forecasting for owned stores in collaboration with our Retail Operations team and other key stakeholders
Monitor sales and inventory levels for each item within Owned Retail Point of Sale Systems and provide both regular and ad-hoc analytical insights to the store leadership team
Identify trading patterns and look for opportunities for growth within categories
Support our Finance team to verify, code and process invoices
Support our Finance team to reconcile and resolve any variances with suppliers
Continuous communication with owned retail stores, Sales & Operations team as well as Retail Operations to ensure transparency of purchasing at all levels of our business
WHAT YOU WILL NEED
Minimum of 1-2 years of demonstrated work in an analytical or planning environment, ideally with experience in a specialty sport industry.
Strong business acumen and understanding of the bicycle retail landscape
An ability to make decisions in a timely manner using the available information at hand to ensure progress is our core focus
An ability to operate efficiently across multiple platforms to access data and inform your day-to-day workflows
Comfortable with ambiguity from time to time and a willingness to be a part of a team that will pivot fast and be creating future processes as we expand our owned retail presence
Skills and knowledge:
Self-motivated with the ability to work autonomously.
Excellent data analysis skills
Excellent organisation, communication and planning skills.
System skills (min. level Intermediate Excel and Office Suite proficiency, knowledge in Oracle a preference) and ability to learn new systems quickly
Understanding of POS systems, e.g. Lightspeed
Experience in retail and/or cycling will be an advantage.
