Snr Designer Sportswear - Melbourne


As a senior member of MAAP’s Design team, you will play a crucial role in shaping how MAAP develops innovative and performance-driven cycling apparel.

From creation of new collections to managing the Design process, you are completely at home in a fast-paced, creative environment, demonstrating high-level strategic thinking and tackling day-to-day details.

You are responsible for driving the design process while managing a small but dynamic team, all along working closely with the Senior Product developers, to further develop our industry-leading product ranges.

Though every day is different, your role will look like a mixture of the below:

  • Establish both short and long-term design direction.

  • Manage and lead the design team from initial concept, through the sampling process, to ensure all key deadlines are met.

  • Provide strong consumer-oriented profiles to help with growth target markets and product innovation.

  • Handling of daily design team tasks related to the end-to-end Product Development process.

  • Liaise with key factories on design / development related queries and tasks.

  • Work seamlessly with your Design and Product counterparts.

A few things about you, that you’ve likely done in previous and current roles:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Apparel Design and minimum 8 years' prior design work experience.

  • Demonstrate borderline obsessive attention to detail during the product design / development process.

  • Achieved solid literacy with Adobe Suite and Office Suite, with strong competency in Adobe Illustrator.

  • Proven a sound understanding of the design process, with strong product creation skills and a methodical attention to detail. (Outdoor apparel, sports and cycling apparel sectors a bonus).

  • Ability to apply and perform design skills such as: digital drawing, ideation, digital product creation and visual presentation development.

  • Familiarity with current trends, colour and design.

  • Deep knowledge of pattern making, draping, materials, trims, garment fit, garment construction, and manufacturing

  • Extensive knowledge of the apparel industry and the development and design process from concept to PP sample.

  • Strong knowledge of technical performance apparel and textiles.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
