About Active Transport
Walking and cycling are integral to our transport system and is key to everything we do on a day to day basis. Walking and cycling is now given the highest priority in how we design transport networks that support place outcomes and for access to key centres and public transport. It generates the highest number of trips by any mode with over 1.1 billion trips a year recorded across NSW, which includes around 600 million trips associated with a public transport journey. The NSW Government has committed to investing a further $710 million into walking and cycling infrastructure over the next four years. This brings the NSW Government’s total commitment to walking and cycling infrastructure to well over $1.1 billion, the largest commitment in the State’s history.
