Sustainable Transport project Coordinator - Sydney

The Sustainable Transport Project Officer is responsible for implementing and encouraging the uptake of active and sustainable transport options by the community (including both residents and commuters) and Council, and co-ordinate the delivery and implementation of active/ sustainable transport projects and programs in North Sydney Local Government Area.
This role will manage active transport infrastructure projects and programs as set out in the North Sydney Integrated Cycling Strategy, Pedestrian and Mobility Access Plans (PAMPs), related strategies and action plans from inception to completion. This will include the co-ordination of consultants in the preparation of conceptual designs, and construction documentation for active transport infrastructure.
This position will also review and update Council’s policy and strategy relating to Car Sharing Schemes and co-ordinate and the implementation of spaces Car Share Schemes; review and co-ordinate the update of active transport (walking and cycling) strategy, action plans and policy documents and also seek funding partnerships to assist with the delivery of sustainable transport projects and programs.
The successful applicant will guide Council’s actions in becoming a leader in the uptake of active and sustainable transport options.
Essential
Tertiary qualifications in either Engineering (ideally with a Traffic/Transport major), Transport, Urban Planning, Landscape Architecture, Environmental Sciences, Behavioural Sciences, or other related field (or near completion of) OR comprehensive experience in the Sustainable Transport field. (Degree qualified Engineers will attract a civil liability allowance).
Demonstrated project management experience and ability to deliver projects within scope, time, and budgets
Demonstrated Consultant and Contract Management experience particularly with current Sustainable Transport Infrastructure Design requirements and relevant Design standards.
Understanding of sustainable transport issues (e.g., Travel demand management, walking, cycling, public transport), complexities and competing priorities
Demonstrated experience in conducting research
Demonstrated experience in the preparation of grant applications and the administration of grants.
Demonstrated experience in preparation of formal correspondence including project briefs, reports, letters, presentations
Understanding of community engagement and behavioural change programs
High level interpersonal, negotiation and conflict resolution skills
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Microsoft Office and computer skills
Class C Motor Vehicle Driver’s Licence
Desirable
Experience in the Sustainable Transport field
Knowledge of professional and industry developments in the Sustainable Transport field
Demonstrated experience in managing consultants and contractors
Demonstrated experience in planning, design, coordination, and implementation of active transport facilities in a Local Government context
Demonstrated experience in preparing, reviewing, and implementing sustainable transport strategies and policies
Vaccinated against COVID-19
