Pedelecs are the fastest growing sector of the bicycle market and are expected to reach 50million units by 2030.
In 2012, the Federal Government introdued legislation that allowed EN15194 (European standard) bicycles to be brought into Australia. It took a further three years for Australian states and territorys to adopt this legislation and allow bicycles to this standard to be ridden on roads and in public spaces.
Due to the issues associated with uncertainly in the legislation, the Australian industry has been unwilling to invest heavily in pedelecs, but now with uniform laws across the country, we are at a time when both the community and the industry are preparing for the explosion of pedelec sale and use.

These are the issues that need to be discussed.
