The BIA is a member of the Australian Bicycle Council, which as reported in Bicycle Trade News, through Austroads has released the Bicycle Parking Facilities guide as a segment of the Traffic Management Guidelines.
Austroads is the national overarching body responsible for the guidelines/standards for the design and construction of all roadways, including parking facilities.
The release, as reported, legitimizes investment in bicycle parking and forces planners and engineers to consider bicycle parking in infrastructure designs.
The report can be found on the BIA website
These guidelines follow from the success of the CPF and the Australian Bicycle Council in achieving the inclusion of cycling as a legitimate form of transport for the first time in the National Guidelines to Transport System Management (now called ATAP) – The overarching national guidelines for the integration of all transport systems.
The ATAP report can be found on the BIA website.
