Bike mechanic - Newcastle
We are seeking an enthusiastic candidate for a full-time bike mechanic role within one of Australia’s leading bike retail stores, Drift Bikes.
Drift Bikes is located in Newcastle, NSW, a place where stellar bike trails meet the sea. For successful candidates moving from out of town for this role, we will pay up to $5,000 relocation costs upon completion of a three-month probationary period.

About the role
The position is a full-time bike mechanic.
In the role, you will be responsible for:
Working efficiently on servicing new bikes, repairing bikes and building new bikes
Preparation and day-to-day tasks within the workshop to ensure timeframes and customer service levels are maintained
Maintaining customer records for all servicing and repairs work
Working to workshop procedures
Providing updates to the Workshop Manager on servicing timeframes for customers

To be successful in the role, you will have:
Strong commitment to improving your skills in servicing, maintaining and building bike
Strong communication and customer service skills
A high level of initiative with the ability to work as part of a team

POSITION DESCRIPTION
POSITION TITLE: Bike Mechanic
DIRECT SUPERVISOR/MANAGER: Drift Bikes Workshop Manager
MAIN DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Opening and closing of the workshop
Prioritising work flows and working to set deadlines
Working efficiently on servicing new bikes, repairing bikes and building new bikes
Maintaining a clean and safe environment in the workshop
Abiding by workplace health and safety procedures and policies
Providing effective and efficient customer service, ensuring up to date product knowledge is maintained
Maintaining knowledge of workshop procedures
Maintaining customer records
Supervisory assistance to the Workshop Manager, including supervising more junior employees as required
Maintaining security and practicing loss prevention strategies, ensuring appropriate procedures are followed to minimise risk
Other tasks as directed
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
Qualifications:

Experience:
1+ years’ experience in bicycle repairs and maintenance
Skills:
Intermediate computer skills with knowledge of POS systems
Excellent communication and customer service skills
Ability to supervise staff and provide support/direction to team members
