AusCycling is the nation’s peak riding and cycling body, representing more than 5 million Australians who ride bikes. Auscycling partners with the South Australian Sports Institute (SASI) to play its role in the resourcing and delivery of a high performance pathway and coaching structure to support South Australian athletes toward realizing their potential.
Team Purpose
Our Clubs & Community Pillar oversees events and racing; workforce education and accreditation programs; competition rules and the State / Territory delivery network.
Position Purpose
The Development Coach will act as the Lead Coach to the AusCycling South Australia State Development program and Talent ID program and will contribute to the high performance cycling coach community working closely with SASI, AusCycling and club cycling coaches.
Responsibilities
The following responsibilities are indicative requirements of the role and are not intended to represent an exhaustive list of all requirements.
Role model AusCycling organisational values, demonstrating an exemplary standard of behaviour and ethical decision making, including respect for, and collaboration with others at all times.
Establish, uphold and promote the principles of AusCycling policies and operating procedures.
Identify and recruit male and female athletes under 15 that have the potential to be selected into the AusCycling South Australia State Development program for track and road cycling.
Promote and support existing Talent identification/Development programs in metropolitan and regional South Australia.
Provide daily coaching to an identified group of Talent identified athletes as identified through SASI and AusCycling Talent Identification initiatives.
Work closely with the SASI Cycling Program to grow and improve participation and retention rates of athletes in the Talent ID program
With support from SASI plan, design, implement, monitor and review training programs for athletes in the State Development and TID programs.
Maintain an updated list of the emerging talent pool and their DTE’s in BMX Race and X-Country Mountain bike and create a communication link for information and guidance for this talent and their coaches to clarify pathways, and to provide any shared opportunities for engagement with AusCycling SA high performance development initiatives.
Provide support when required to the Auscycling SA Paracycling Coach on paracycling projects and sessions.
Attend training camps and competitions as official SA team staff as directed and agreed upon by AusCycling and SASI.
Undergo a personal coaching development needs analyses and commit to a development plan as identified by SASI Coach Development Lead
Safeguard the integrity of AusCycling through implementation of the highest standards and community expectations as it relates to the pathway team (with regard to inclusion, the safety and wellbeing of children, and anti-doping).
Any other duties as necessary to enable the success of AusCycling.

Achieve Job Performance Indicators outlined below:
Develop, maintain and communicate to stakeholders a high performing and transparent pre-categorization identification and development pathway program, which includes;
A total of forty (40) athletes selected each year into the AusCycling SA Talent ID program. It will be focused on two (2) intakes every 12 months – but will also aim to include and support identified talent into the Talent ID development program at any time.
Retention of 80% of athletes to complete the full six months the AusCycling SA TID program.
Retention of 80% of athletes to complete the full State Development program.
Progression of athletes into the AusCycling SA State Development program. Between 3-6 athletes each year.
Progression of athletes into SASI Cycling program. Minimum of 3 athletes each year.
Athletes in the AusCycling SA TID program to continuously meet individual athlete performance and progression requirements.
Submission of a monthly report outlining attendance records and progression of athletes in the Talent ID program
Submission of a 6 month targeted recruitment/ testing and Talent ID calendar/ program every 6 months (January and July).
Submit a bi-annual report every six months for the duration of the contract.
Qualifications, Skills, Knowledge and Experience
Minimum Level 1 Coach accreditation in the sport of cycling (or be near to completion prior to starting the role)
Sound knowledge of high performance sport, with an excellent understanding of the technical requirements of cycling (road & track)
Well developed interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to build working relationships with athletes, other coaches and support staff
Ability to work as part of a team.
Excellent time management, organisation and planning skills, with an ability to prioritise tasks.
Excellent computer literacy and administrative skills.
Excellent record keeping, documentation, and report writing skills
Knowledge of the sport of cycling and understanding of opportunities for the Australian sports sector.

Mandatory Requirements
Working with Children’s Check clearance from the relevant authority;
Satisfactory Police Check (in the absolute discretion of the Company);
Australian Car Driver’s license
Level 1 Auscycling coaching accreditation, or higher.
