Trail design manager - Perth

Located in beautiful Margaret River, our head office is on the trails with riding, hiking, and running in all directions. We also have teams working remotely across Australia and Canada in a number of equally amazing locations.


We are currently looking for our next legend – Manager – Trail Design to help meet existing and growing demand for our trail design services, and to help us deliver on our mission to a broader client base.


The position:

The Manager – Trail Design is required to:

  • Lead and manage the trail design function, department, and team;

  • Understand the vision of Common Ground Trails, clients, and communities and lead and manage all trail projects accordingly;

  • Ensure all trail design projects are completed on time, within budget, and in accordance with contract and project deliverables;

  • Manage the day-to-day delivery of assigned projects to project completion.

Our perfect candidate will have:

  • Tertiary qualification in landscape architecture or similar;

  • A minimum of 5 years of landscape architecture experience;

  • Experience working in the trail industry and in trail design;

  • Experience in the leadership and management of a function, department, and team or willingness to learn and develop relevant skills;

  • Experience in project management and project delivery related to trail design with a focus on achieving results on time and within budget;

  • Experience in the use of GPS devices in the field and with processing and manipulating spatial data using GIS software packages to produce maps and other supporting outputs.

Our preference is that this position works from our office in Margaret River. We may consider a hybrid arrangement for the right person. This position requires travel and fieldwork. Some fieldwork locations are remote.

Common Ground Trails specialises in walk and mountain bike trail and pump track-related services.
