pbourke2

  • Is building relationships your wheelhouse?

  • Are you as comfortable working behind the desk as you are out meeting people?

  • Work for a health and sustainability-driven for-purpose organisation with over 35 years of experience!

  • Great salary + 6 weeks annual leave + bike packaging + Bicycle Network membership + MORE!

We believe in liveable places where people are physically active - that's why we make it easier to ride a bike. About Bicycle Network

Bicycle Network believes that physical activity & sustainable transport is vital for a happy, healthy community – that’s why we make it easier for everyone to ride a bike. We support and service the needs of nearly 50,000 members, thousands of event participants and the general bike riding community across Australia.

We're pedalling hard to build a nation of bikes riders and we have an exciting opportunity for a Volunteer Coordinator to join us in our team, based from our Melbourne CBD office! About the Opportunity

As the Volunteer Coordinator, you’ll play a core role in bringing some of Australia’s greatest mass-participation bike riding events to life, including Peaks Challenge Falls Creek and the Great Victorian Bike Ride.

We’re looking for adaptable and people-oriented coordinator who is passionate about building relationships. This is no stock-standard job; your role will vary each day as you’ll be coordinating and managing all the things that keep our existing volunteer team super committed and happy (some have been with us for over 25 years!), as well as recruitment of newbies (100’s a year), selection, training, development and recognition of the whole team.

There’s three keys to success in this gig:

  • You’ll build strong relationships with hundreds of volunteers, universities and other organisations to help connect individuals from all walks of life with Bicycle Network, in both event and office-based roles

  • You’ll be a pro at keeping organised to ensure our volunteers are well-connected to the organisation and supported in their roles

  • You won’t hesitate to jump in and get your hands dirty on event, helping to build relationships with volunteers by working side by side.

Our ideal team member will:

  • Have a natural ability to build strong, honest relationships, and an eagerness to network with people to help them join and stay with a great organisation

  • Have a talent in delivering clear and influential communication

  • Have an ability to lead change, and confidence to try the unknown

  • Solid organisational skills to separate the urgent from important

  • Ability to know when to share your expertise and when to learn from others around you

  • A valid Working With Children Check (or a willingness to obtain);

  • Full vaccination against COVID-19 (or hold a valid medical exemption); and

While this role is based in our Melbourne CBD office, there are options for hybrid working conditions. Importantly, the role also requires travel both within Victoria and interstate for event delivery, but between us - you get to go to some pretty spectacular places (hello Great Ocean Road!)

Experience within volunteer management, event management or HR would be beneficial, but is not essential. We aim to be committed, honest, inclusive, and progressive in all we do. You don't have to ride, but believing in an active future is a must for us!

Bicycle Network is committed to ensuring our team represents the diversity of our community. Women, indigenous people, people with a disability, young people, gender diverse people and people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds are encouraged to apply. How We've Got Your Back!

  • Earn $60,000 - $70,000 (commensurate with experience) PLUS;

  • Bike packaging (salary packaging, but for bikes!);

  • 6 weeks annual leave;

  • Professional development and emotional wellbeing support subscriptions;

  • Hire car discounts;

  • Negotiable flexible work arrangements; and

  • Negotiable co-funding for study!

If you're keen to help build healthier, happier lives, apply today!
