Bike mechanic - Wagga Wagga


Wagga Cycle Centre is seeking a Bicycle Mechanic & Sales Assistant to join our team in Wagga Wagga. This is a full-time position that combines hands-on mechanical expertise with customer-facing sales responsibilities. You will play a vital role in delivering exceptional service to our cycling community, ensuring customers receive expert advice on bicycle selection whilst maintaining and repairing their bikes to the highest standard. This role is integral to our business operations and directly impacts customer satisfaction and loyalty.

Key responsibilities

  1. Perform routine and complex bicycle maintenance and repairs, including brake adjustments, gear tuning, wheel building, new bicycles assembly and component replacements

  2. Diagnose mechanical issues and provide customers with clear explanations and cost estimates for repair work

  3. Assist customers on the sales floor by providing knowledgeable recommendations on bicycles, components, and accessories suited to their needs and budget

  4. Help customers select appropriate gear and safety equipment, ensuring they have everything needed for their cycling activities

  5. Maintain accurate service records and keep track of work-in-progress items and customer orders

  6. Ensure the workshop and sales floor remain clean, organised and well-stocked with parts and inventory

  7. Handle customer enquiries and complaints professionally, resolving issues to ensure satisfaction

  8. Support the team in achieving sales targets and promoting new products and services


What we're looking for

  1. Experience as a bicycle mechanic or previous mechanical experience from other trades, with a solid understanding of bicycle systems and components

  2. Knowledge of bicycle maintenance procedures and familiarity with common repair tools and equipment. Previous experience from other mechanical fields will also be taken into consideration.

  3. Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to customers of all backgrounds

  4. The ability to confidently sell bicycle products and spare parts, and talk customers through the correct options will be a necessity when not engage in mechanical workshop repairs.

  5. Physical ability to perform manual tasks, including lifting, standing for extended periods, and working in various positions

  6. Attention to detail and commitment to delivering quality workmanship

  7. The ability to switch from mechanical labour roles to customers service roles when demand requires.

  8. Saturday half-day work is required approximately 50-75% of weeks.

  9. Simple PC and / or MAC skills a must.
