About Bicycle SA

Bicycle South Australia (Bike SA) is the peak body for recreational and commuter cycling in the state. With over 4,500 members and a strong reputation for delivering high-quality rides and programs, we promote cycling for fun, fitness, tourism and transport. Each year, Bike SA engages more than 70,000 South Australians through events, education, advocacy and cycling holidays – showcasing the very best of urban and regional South Australia.

About the Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic and organised Event Assistant to support the planning and delivery of Bike SA’s cycling events. This is an ideal opportunity for a recent graduate with strong administration and logistics skills who is keen to learn the ropes of event delivery in a dynamic, hands-on environment.

You’ll work closely with the Event Manager, providing planning and logistical support for a mix of community rides and major regional tours. The role also includes supporting warehouse and equipment management, giving you broad exposure to all aspects of event coordination. For the right applicant, there is real opportunity for career progression within our team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative and logistical support to the Event Manager

  • Assist in the coordination of one-day and community rides (e.g. La Grande Gita, Ride For Her, Grand Slam Challenge Series)

  • Support the planning and delivery of multi-day regional tours such as the Flinders Escape, Outback Odyssey and Annual Tour

  • Help manage packing, transport and set-up of signage, equipment and supplies

  • Assist with warehouse oversight and maintain inventories of marquees, signage, tools and event gear

  • Support volunteer communications, rostering and coordination during events

  • Contribute to event documentation, evaluations and post-event processes

About You

This role will suit a new graduate or early-career professional looking to build experience in event delivery. You’ll be organised, adaptable and willing to get hands-on. Ideally, you have:

  • Strong administrative and organisational skills

  • An interest in events, logistics, or outdoor programs

  • Some knowledge or understanding of cycling, sport or recreation

  • Good communication skills and a collaborative attitude

  • A practical, solutions-focused approach

  • Physical ability to assist with packing, lifting and event set-up

  • Willingness to travel regionally for key events

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Tertiary qualifications in events, sport management, tourism or a related field (desirable)

  • Manual driver’s licence (essential)

  • First Aid Certificate (or willingness to obtain)

  • MR or HR licence (desirable, but not essential)
