Event Operations Manager - Melbourne


As part of the Event Team, you’ll help deliver some of Australia’s most iconic and life-changing cycling events, including Around the Bay, the Great Vic Bike Ride, and Peaks Challenge Falls Creek. You’ll play a key role in creating unforgettable experiences for riders and communities, ensuring each event runs smoothly, safely, and with purpose - make\ing it easier for everyone to ride a bike, every day.

What you’ll be responsible for

  • Project lead - Around the Bay & Peaks Challenge

  • Own the full life-cycle: budgets, schedules, permits, stakeholder engagement, on-day delivery and post-event reporting.

  • Route operations - all Bicycle Network events

  • Design safe, efficient courses; oversee traffic management planning, contingency plans and on-road resources; oversee live operations during each event.

  • People & stakeholder leadership

  • Guide a multidisciplinary project team and foster productive relationships with councils, emergency services, suppliers, sponsors and volunteers.

  • Performance & improvement

  • Track financials, KPIs and rider-satisfaction metrics; implement lessons learned so every ride is better than the last.

  • Events land on time and within budget

  • Partnership and sponsor KPIs are met

  • Rider-satisfaction scores remain high or improve

  • Compliance and documentation milestones are achieved

  • Your team feels motivated, supported and high-performing.

About you

  • Solid track record in route or course management for large on-road events, not necessarily cycling only

  • Demonstrated ability to lead project teams and coordinate multiple stakeholders

  • Strong skills in budgeting, scheduling and resource management

  • Clear communicator who builds trust with stakeholders, suppliers and the riding community

  • Collaborative, solutions-focused and committed to delivering outstanding participant experiences.

Essential Requirements

  • Valid Working with Children / Working with Vulnerable People Check

  • Valid Driver's Licence

  • Relevant tertiary degree in Project, Event or Sport Management.

Desirable Criteria

  • HLTAID011 - Provide First Aid, (Senior First Aid or Level 2)

  • HLTAID009 - Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).
