Position Overview

The Membership Manager is responsible for growing and retaining WestCycle’s membership base, delivering exceptional member experiences, and supporting the organisation’s strategic and operational goals. This hands-on role blends administration, marketing and community engagement, with a focus on continuous improvement in our membership offerings and processes.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Membership Growth & Engagement

  • Identify and pursue opportunities to grow individual membership across all rider segments.

  • Develop and deliver targeted campaigns, incentives and events to attract and retain members.

  • Organise and deliver member events that build engagement and strengthen the member community.

  • Develop, secure and manage partnerships that deliver exclusive benefits and opportunities for members.

  • Organise and facilitate member engagement activities including surveys, forms, and working groups, to gather feedback and inform strategy.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with member organisations, affiliates, and clubs through regular communication, encouraging their input and supporting their development, so their needs and feedback shape WestCycle’s planning and decision-making.

  • Coordinate member communications in monthly newsletters.

 

Member Servicing & Administration

  • Manage all member enquiries, renewals and onboarding.

  • Maintain accurate membership records and ensure data accuracy in management systems.

  • Oversee membership payment processing, reporting and compliance.

  • Manage the insurance policy and member insurance claims.

 

Reporting

  • Manage all data requirements including accurate membership records and reporting.

  • Provide a monthly membership report to Business Manager and CEO.

  • Analyse member feedback and data to drive continuous improvement and inform strategic planning.

  • Track and report on KPIs on membership growth, retention/churn, campaign reach, event participation and financial targets.

 

Finance

  • Ensure membership revenue targets are met and support broader organisational financial goals.

  • Assist with budget management, sponsorship and grant opportunities related to membership initiatives.

  • Manage expenditure in accordance with approved budget.

 

Other Duties

  • Fulfil other duties as directed by the Business Manager and Chief Executive Officer.

 

Selection Criteria

  • Tertiary qualifications and/or 3+ years’ experience in a membership, sales or community engagement role.

  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.

  • Strong digital skills: CRM/database management, Microsoft Office, digital marketing (Wordpress, Canva, Meta/Google campaigns).

  • High-level organisational and administrative skills.

  • Demonstrated high-level interpersonal skills with the ability to build effective relationships with stakeholders.

  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.

  • Commitment to WestCycle’s values and willingness to go above and beyond core responsibilities.

 

Desirable Skills

  • Experience with membership data management systems and reporting.

  • Experience in the cycling, sport or not-for-profit sector.

Working Hours

  • The role is primarily Monday to Friday, based at our West Leederville office.

  • Due to the nature of the position, work outside regular hours (mornings, evenings and weekends) is required.

  • Time in lieu (TOIL) is provided for approved out of hours work, in accordance with WestCycle’s Leave and TOIL Policy.
