About the role: Reporting to the Payroll Leader, we are looking for a full time, passionate Payroll Assistant to join our Finance Team based at our Support Office in Bowen Hills. The primary purpose for this role is ensuring accurate processing of payroll, supporting our Team Leaders and employees with queries and general compliance. About you:

  • Payroll or data processing experience is desirable

  • Knowledge of General Retail Award is desirable

  • Payroll system experience is desirable

  • Understanding of timesheets and rostering

  • Exceptionally high attention to detail

  • Excellent communication skills and ability to solve problems

  • Sound knowledge of Microsoft Excel

  • Strong focus on accuracy, organisational skills and customer service

  • A “can do” proactive approach with the ability to adapt to changing priorities

  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines

  • Team player

Key responsibilities:

  • Process fortnightly salary and timesheet payroll for approximately 700 employees

  • End to end payroll processing which includes manual checks and analysis to identify discrepancies

  • Calculation and preparation of manual payments, including termination, adjustments and redundancy pays

  • Process payroll change forms

  • Liaise with team leaders for timely approval of payroll related activities

  • Maintain employee records (set up new employees, transfer, rates, deductions)

  • Assist stores with general payroll queries via phone and email
