ABOUT THE ROLE:

We are looking for a passionate payroll professional to join our finance team based at our head office at Bowen Hills. The primary purpose for this role is ensuring accurate processing of payroll, supporting our team leaders with queries and general compliance. This role is currently a 12-month fixed term, full time opportunity with possibility of extension.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Process fortnightly salary and timesheet payroll for approximately 700 employees

  • Set up EFT file for payment to employees

  • End to end payroll processing which includes manual checks and analysis to identify discrepancies

  • Calculation and preparation of manual payments, including termination, adjustments and redundancy pays

  • Liaise with team leaders for timely approval of payroll related activities

  • Monthly reconciliation and lodgement of Payroll Tax, Superannuation and PAYG

  • Processing all WorkCover claims

  • Maintaining employee records (set up new employees, transfer, rates, deductions)

  • Assist stores with general payroll queries

  • Assist with payroll queries during annual audit

  • Adhoc project work to improve processes and systems

  • Ensure that there are effective payroll controls embedded for payroll processes and practices to minimise non-compliance risks

EXPERIENCE:

  • Proven experience in payroll processing environment

  • Demonstrated understanding of payroll tax, WorkCover legislation, superannuation and PAYG

  • Experience in identifying and resolving compliance risks

  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of payroll software

  • A degree in finance or business would be beneficial however not essential

  • Minimum 5 years experience in a similar role

SKILLS:

  • Exceptionally high attention to detail is required

  • Excellent communication skills and ability to solve problems

  • Expertise in and ability to interpret awards, contracts and agreements

  • Keypay payroll system experience is advantageous

  • Sound knowledge of Microsoft Excel

  • Strong focus on accuracy, organisational skills and customer service

  • A “can do” proactive approach with the ability to adapt to changing priorities

  • Ability to work under pressure and to deadlines
