AusCycling is seeking an accredited Sports Dietitian (0.4 FTE) to co-ordinate and deliver nutritional support to podium & podium ready athletes across cycling disciplines, in the lead into Paris Olympic Games. It is preferred that the candidate is Adelaide based, but this is not essential for the role.Â
This role will be part of the Performance Health Team and will work closely with coaches, head coaches and the performance team.
Remuneration will be negotiable upon the experience of the successful candidate.
Primary Purpose of Role:
The purpose of this role is to coordinate and deliver evidence-based performance nutrition support to AusCycling as part of a holistic health and performance model, in the lead into Paris 2024 Olympic Games.Â
The role will focus on delivery of nutrition support to enhance health and performance of podium and podium ready athletes in AusCycling
Responsibilities:
Coordinate, and implement evidence-based nutritional strategies to support athletes, aligned to their individual performance plans and health requirements.
Execute a targeted approach to nutrition, ensuring athletes have the nutrition skills and knowledge required leading into Olympic Games 2024.
Work closely with performance health team and coaches to support injured athletes on return to training and racing.
Coordinate food requirements for events leading into and including the Olympic Games (including racing & camps).
Coordinate the management of sports foods and supplements (including ordering & provision) for podium or podium ready athletes, aligned to AusCycling Supplement Policy.
Coordinate physique, metabolic and other evaluation measures as required including DXA, skinfolds and RMR assessments as per the AS National Testing Protocols.
Work as part of a multidisciplinary support team to collaborate and share knowledge and best practice in AusCycling.
Utilise the Athlete Management System for recording athlete information & ensure all medico-legal documentation obligations are adhered to.
Flexible working hours and hours outside of typical business hours may be required.Â
Experience and Qualifications:
Tertiary qualifications and demonstrated experience in Nutrition and Dietetics, recognised by the Dietitians Association of Australia
Registration (or equivalent) as an Accredited Practicing Dietitian with the Dietitians Association of Australia and membership of Sports Dietitians Australia (SDA) with status as an Accredited Sports Dietitian
Current International Society for the Advancement of Kinanthropometry (ISAK) accreditation
Current First Aid/CPR Certificate
3+ years’ experience in the provision of nutrition support to improve performance and health.
Exposure to NSO &/or NIN environments desired
Proven ability to work in an integrated team with high performance coaches and athletes.
Demonstrated success integrating nutrition and managing athletes across a season or campaign and a major event.
Demonstrated ability to manage remotely located programs.
Skills and Knowledge:
Knowledge & understanding of contemporary research and issues in performance nutrition relevant to cycling and their practical application.
Skilled in the diagnosis and management of clinical nutritional issues, and individual nutrition counselling.
Ability to identify barriers to optimal nutrition practices and develop and implement creative solutions.
Experience operating relevant technology related to data storage for nutrition records & nutritional food diary analysis.
Demonstrated strong communication skills, an ability to be proactive and well planned.
Proven ability to build and maintain effective relationships both internally and externally with a diverse range of stakeholders.
Demonstrated willingness to be part of a professional network, to share knowledge, to continue learning and support best evidence-based practice in the delivery of performance nutrition.
Experience building trusting relationships and networking.
Consistently drive excellence and help develop others.

Working with Children’s Check clearance from the relevant authority
Satisfactory Police Check (in the absolute discretion of the Company)
Satisfactory No Doping Declaration (in the absolute discretion of the Company)
Successful completion and currency of Level 1 & 2 Sport Integrity Australia (SIA) accreditation
Successful completion of SIA "Keep Sport Honest" Anti-match fixing education components.
