Trail operations coordinator - Warburton


As a Trail Operations Coordinator – Warburton Bike Park at Yarra Ranges Council, you will oversee the day-to-day management of trails and infrastructure, ensuring the highest standards of safety, functionality, and rider experience. You will coordinate maintenance programs, develop and manage a Bike Patrol program, and lead environmental initiatives in line with the park’s Operational Environment Management Plan, while contributing to the delivery of a world-class mountain biking destination. As part of the park’s leadership team, you will drive safety and emergency management planning and participate in a roster to enable effective seven-day operations and incident response.

This role has three direct reports.

The location of this role varies across Warburton and Lilydale, Victoria.

This is a full-time permanent position (38 hours per week), with approximately 20 to 30 weekend days per annum, inclusive.

This is a Band 7 role with a salary range between $110,534 and $123,686 per annum, plus superannuation.

Weekend work forms a regular part of this role to support peak visitation periods. You can expect approximately 20 to 30 weekend days per year, depending on operational needs. Hours worked on weekends attract applicable penalty rates, which may provide an opportunity to earn additional income (indicatively up to $11,000 per annum, excluding superannuation), depending on roster allocation. All figures are indicative and not guaranteed.

Experience and skills we’re looking for

  • Experience in mountain bike trail management or similar asset management in an outdoor, adventure tourism or land management environment.

  • Provide timely coaching, guidance, and constructive feedback to develop staff capability and strengthen skills across trail operations and maintenance.

  • Apply sound decision-making by analysing information from multiple sources, identifying issues and opportunities, and implementing effective, practical solutions.

  • Delegate responsibilities appropriately to maximise team effectiveness, empowering staff while ensuring accountability and high standards of delivery.

  • Drive results by setting clear goals, monitoring performance, and continuously seeking improvements to enhance park operations and rider experience.

  • Plan and organise operational activities, resources, and maintenance programs to ensure efficient, safe, and high-quality outcomes across the bike park.

  • Great organisational and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate confidently with diverse customers.
