About Bicycle Queensland 

Bicycle Queensland (BQ) is Queensland’s is the leading voice for bike and scooter riding and the point of connection for the future of riding. We represent and influence decisions that impact people who use bikes for transport, wellbeing and recreation. We are committed to working with governments, the corporate sector, research organisations and riders to improve riding experiences across Queensland.  

We are one of the largest and most influential community riding organisations in Australia, with over 12,000 members and 40,000 supporters. We have a small team of people with big ambitions and a significant state-wide agenda to fulfil our vision of more Queenslanders riding more often. 

About the Role 

This is an exciting opportunity to join BQ in a role responsible for the delivery of our strategic outcomes, as well as managing the day-to-day business. 

You will work closely with the CEO in implementing strategic operations, including strategy development and management, KPIs, action plans, reporting and dashboards. You will manage outcomes for key business areas including membership, marketing, projects and business, and manage event planning and execution, including volunteers. As well staff management, you will work with external stakeholders including being the key interface with the Department of Transport and Main Roads relating to funding provided for programs and projects. 

Ideally the role will be full-time at 38 hours per week, however a part-time role may be considered for the right candidate.

To be successful in this role you will bring: 

  • relevant tertiary qualifications and at least 5 years’ management experience;

  • project management and leadership experience; and

  • experience in the community services sector, including event management.

You will also: 

  • have proven ability work collaboratively within and manage a small team while delivering great outcomes;

  • demonstrate your ability to deliver outcomes through good governance, policies and procedures;

  • demonstrate your ability to manage organisational performance;

  • be financially literate and adept in managing and optimising resources;

  • be a strategic thinker, proactive, self-motivated and use initiative;

  • be able to manage your time effectively and meet tight deadlines;

  • have outstanding oral and written communication skills and people skills;

  • have a good understanding of the bike riding environment and community; and

  • understand the role of government and not-for-profit organisations, and be politically astute.
