Head of Finance - Melbourne


Leon Cycle, established in 2014, is a global leader in electric bike retail, originally founded in Germany. With a strong passion for electric bicycles, we’ve grown worldwide, including operations in Australia and New Zealand. We’re seeking an experienced and dynamic Head of Finance to join our team. This role will blend financial oversight with inventory management and forecasting, focusing on seamless communication with our overseas teams.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

Financial Management:

  • Oversee month-end close processes, including journals, bank reconciliations, and financial reporting (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow statements). 

  • Prepare tax returns, including GST, and ensure compliance with financial regulations. 

  • Conduct cash flow forecasting and reporting. 

  • Lead half-year and year-end closings, including stock takes and inventory reconciliations. 

  • Manage AR, credit control, and releasing of orders.

 

Inventory Analysis & Forecasting:

  • Collaborate closely with the ANZ Operations teams to develop and manage product sales forecasting, coordinating with overseas production facilities to meet demand. 

  • Analyze inventory data to ensure accurate forecasting and optimal stock levels across ANZ. 

  • Oversee inventory movements and ensure accurate reporting for financial and operational efficiency. 

 

Pricing & Cost Analysis:

  • Develop pricing models in coordination with the overseas team, aligning costs and ensuring profitability. 

  • Monitor operating costs and recommend adjustments to meet financial goals.

 

Communication with Overseas Teams:

  • Act as the main point of contact between the finance team in Australia and overseas teams, particularly in China. 

  • Communicate operating costs, financial results, and pricing strategies to align global operations. 

 

Process Improvement & Compliance:

  • Continuously improve financial processes and controls, identifying areas for improvement in workflows and systems. 

  • Liaise with external auditors and ensure compliance with internal financial controls. 

  • Establish and monitor record-keeping procedures, ensuring data security and confidentiality.

 

Qualifications & Experience:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field. Master’s preferred. 

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role, ideally in the Australian or New Zealand market. 

  • Strong experience with Xero accounting software. 

  • Advanced Excel skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications. 

  • Experience in inventory management, forecasting, and financial reporting. 

  • Strong communication skills. Mandarin (spoken and written), would be highly regarded. 

  • Exceptional organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills. 

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with a collaborative mindset.
